Workplace Safety
Since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, large and small businesses alike have had to reassess what it takes to offer a safe environment.
Both the CDC and OSHA suggest the following measures (with stricter measures recommended in high-risk environments such as healthcare facilities):
Frequent disinfection of common surfaces
Maintaining at least 6 feet of distance from others whenever possible
Face coverings—especially where social distancing isn’t possible
Physical barriers where people are likely to be less than 6 feet apart
Physical Barriers for the Office
The amount of open, shared space in today’s offices makes these guidelines especially important. As we examined our own offices at KTM Solutions, we saw numerous setups in which maintaining a six-foot distance would be difficult, if not impossible. So we began developing solutions.
With custom solutions on the table, we found that virtually any space could conform to the CDC guidelines. These pictures from a recent client installation show clear cubicle toppers combined with framed partitions between adjacent desks. These physical barriers mean that, whether standing or seated, coworkers have an extra protection in case they’re less than 6 ft. apart.
